Learn to take your paintings to the next level in terms of composition, mark making, color harmony, and texture. Rich painterly brushwork, dynamic color temperature relationships and experienced decision making will allow your work to stand out among the crowd.

Let’s take a deep dive in choosing how to manipulate and interpret your photo reference when preparing to do a painting. Larger sweeping brush work makes a bigger impact when covering your surfaces, set aside your smaller brushes for this workshop. We will be working with 2 inch house brushes and other large brushes sizes to medium size brushes.

Whether it be a landscape, cityscape, portrait, seascape, or still life, this workshop will entice you to be less dependent on the photo reference and allow you to make more creative decision making
which will not only enhance the way you approach your work, but also allow you to achieve the painterly effects you desire in your work.

Realism meets abstraction, finding a balance between reality and abstraction is the place where the magic happens. Create a mood, and emotional climate where mystery and intrigue unite to create a painting that really makes an impact on your viewers. Workshop is done in oil colors, intermediate to advanced painters will thrive here, this workshop is not suited for beginning painters.
