Animals and Botanicals in Colored Pencil - Ages 7 up

This course will have a main focus on colored pencils (along with a couple of other media like markers and watercolor) and will teach students how to draw and paint animals and objects found in nature.
The students will learn techniques in color-matching, layering, blending, and building texture.
Colored pencil is one of the most diverse and fun art media which can be used in adjunct to almost every other media on the market. It is accessible to everyone, no matter the skill level. This class will illustrate how to use colored pencils in a wide variety of methods and themes ranging from birds to leaves to feathers to flowers!

Manga have a long history in Japanese art, and in recent years have became increasingly popular worldwide.   The term ‘manga’ refers to the highly popularized Japanese animation and comic visual style.  Their highly stylized characteristics and engaging story lines have become a cultural phenomenon. 

Students will create their own interpretations of manga characters and comics demonstrating their technical drawing skills as well as their creativity and imagination. This class uses "Manga" as a springboard for students to investigate everything from character design to comics; all while forming their own drawing style.  Students will learn the skills to draw characters' heads, expressions, bodies, outfits, and dynamic action poses.
