This class is perfect for students who want to focus on rendering skills and learning new ways of looking. Working with still life, we will explore rendering and shading techniques, including contour drawing, gesture drawing, cross-hatching and stippling. We will also discuss perspective, proportion and learn how to put these concepts to use. All materials are provided.

Exploring sculpture, polymer clay, cardboard engineering, and mixed media art

This is a hands-on mixed media art class where students explore building, sculpting, and designing using materials such as polymer clay, cardboard, paper, wire, recycled materials, and more.

Through playful experimentation and guided projects, students will transform simple materials into imaginative sculptures, creatures, miniature worlds, functional objects, and original works of art. Along the way, we’ll explore concepts such as structure, balance, texture, storytelling, character design, and creative problem solving.

This class encourages curiosity, invention, and artistic confidence while giving students the freedom to bring their ideas to life through sculpture and creative construction.

In this animation class, students explore the art of bringing images to life through layered storytelling and movement. With a focus on multi-plane animation, we’ll experiment with depth, composition, and camera movement to create dimensional scenes. Students will also be introduced to a range of animation approaches, including stop motion and other mixed-media techniques.

Through hands-on projects, students will create short animated pieces while developing an understanding of timing, visual storytelling, and spatial design. The class offers a supportive environment to experiment, take creative risks, and grow both technically and artistically.
