This is a great introductory class to gesture drawing taught by Pixar Animator John CC Lee.  Students will learn to see the human body and practice drawing what they see.  The main focus of this class is to understand the drawings techniques that capture the action of a pose in short amount of time.  We will work with live clothed models and talk about proportion and basic anatomy.

Create your own cartoon characters and storylines. We will cover inking, coloring, lettering, and how to make detailed backgrounds. This is a great class for all skill levels. We will also look at comics from artists such as Kazu Kibuishi, Raina Telgemeier, and more. Series such as Adventure Time and Bee an Puppycat will be covered and classics such as Peanuts, as well as Pixar storyboard art. Students will create a 3 panel comic, cartoon logo, one page story, cartoon crafts, and mini comic book. Materials are provided (except for a sketchbook) and will include micron pens, markers, pencils, erasers, and more.

In this workshop, artist Olivia Chen will cover basic anatomy of the head, focusing on building a stronger foundation in traditional portraiture.  We'll break down the structure of skull, eye, nose, mouth and ear.  Students will learn step by step drawing techniques to organize the position, shape, shading and proportion of the features.  On the last day of the camp, students will work from a live model and apply all skill they've learn through the week.  This workshop is open to artists of all skill levels interested in improving their drawing ability.
