Where Light Meets Dark: Understanding Contrast and Transitions for Realistic Drawing with Emma Hirst

Date: Saturday - Sunday, May 25th and 26th
Time: 10-1pm, 2-5pm, 1 hour lunch break
Cost: $320.00 ($5 off if paid with check/Venmo/Paypal)

This workshop will explore the roll of edges and transitions in drawing. We will address the following aspects of edges; the range of values, the rate of change in those values, and how the rate of change conveys depth/form. We will also address material dynamics, and developing skills that will allow you to create smooth and clean transitions from one value to the next. This will be an effective workshop because although there is a vast amount of conceptual information on realism, as well as an incredible time commitment to practice that ultimately allows someone to create realistic work, understanding how to keep edges soft, and transitions clean is something that can change a drawing from looking like a cartoon to looking very real.

All levels welcome.
